Program for the Characterization of Secreted Effector Proteins

Cross-linking mass spectrometry has long been used as a tool to probe protein structure. Recent advances in cross-linking mass spectrometry (XL-MS) suggest that this technique will become an increasingly important tool for structural proteomics. In the Program for the Characterization of Secreted Effector Proteins, we have combined mixed-isotope cross-linking (MIX) with ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) to distinguish inter- and intramolecular cross-links. In addition, we have developed an informatics tool to take advantage of the MIX multiplet signal information obtained using MIX-LC-IMS-MS.
